Pyramid Was A Success

Holiday greetings rebels and rebelettes. If you missed my performance at pyramid club then you missed magic that  could have taken place before your very eyes. I had so much fun smh. When i got there the people of the venue were late so i was stuck in the rain for a hot min eventually though they came and i was eventually able to warm up. Shortly after one of my friends from work came out as promised. He actually has his own talent agency on the come up as well (Push To Start talent agency) as well as a few shirts and various other merch promoting his brand. I promised i would wear some of his merch to help get his word out there. A few min go by and the rest of my team arrive. Since i was the opening act i was ready to kick off the night right. I think "worth fighting for" was perfect because i definitely felt a little bit of a mood shift. In most cases there's a lot of ego and tension in the air at these types of events but i really think my song helped minimize it. When i got off there was a lovely lady by the name of Deena who was singing my song so i took the time out to sign her copy of her cd. After that i continued passing out business cards and cds. All in all i would say that this night was a success!

Opening Act

whats going on rebels and rebelettes. Yall thought i was busy before? smh well you haven't seen nothing yet. A couple of weeks ago i had a meeting that went exceptionally well. Long story short tomorrow night at the pyramid club i will be the opening act for the entire show. This is big news for me, i dont want to broadcast what else was said but if this show goes well then it will lead to a lot of great opportunities. On top of that i will be performing "worth fighting for" for the first time ever. I felt it is a good song to start the night off and has a good message. I have been so busy with meetings and other things yet and still i have not lost focus or anything. i am extremely hyped to this show. Every chance i got while i was at work i was practicing. This will be shot live from must rebel tv so stick around you are not going to miss it at all!

The Wait Is Over

Since 2009 i've been working on trying to finish a mixtape or album well as of 11/24/11 i am finished with my first professional mixtape! I say professional because from 2006 to 2008 i was recording, editing, and mixing my projects myself. needless to say that they sounded horrible but hey you live and you learn. This time around i wanted it to be done right. From mixing, editing, mastering, graphics everything smh. I can't lie this project was more costly then i thought lol. Thank God i have such a love and passion for this because if i didn't i would have said to hell with this and started looking for a regular job because its so expensive lol. This was a good learning experience because now i have a better idea of what type of budget i will need for my projects. On a side note i can honestly see why artist go running for a label...so that don't have to come out of pocket lol. Back to the topic  i want to give a shout out to Microphone Bully who did the graphic artwork. F.L.O. Empire for the duplication, Straight From The Lab Productions for the mixing, mastering and recording. Theres the people featured on the tape which is Mike Bostic and Filly The ClassLoser. Finally i want to thank my family for without them i don't think i could have continued and made it here without them. When i say family i include you the fans because you have embraced me and supported in this early stage of my career. Thank You and i really hope that everyone who hears and downloads my mixtape enjoys theirself.

The Last Episode

Hey rebels/rebelettes. Well this is it. This Thursday will be the last episode of Must Rebel TV. If you didn't read the earlier blogs the reason for this is numerous but mainly it has to do with me focusing more on mixtapes/albums. A lot of Must Rebel TV episodes were of me recording songs for Rebel Thursday. After looking at all the songs i have recorded i have enough songs to get me through March (which is when Rebel Thursday will stop. now that Rebel Thursday is taken care of i can now put more time into more projects. Right now i'm thinking about the list of songs i would like to record for next week. Since this is my last show on air i want to make sure i end with a bang. I want a well balanced mix of songs. Crazy 16's, deep tracks even some about women (yes i said women lol). So thats what you can look forward to. So get ready for the final episode of Must Rebel TV!

Pyramid Club

It feels like another day another show. Last week Tuesday i performed at Pyramid Club. it was an open mic which was music to my ears because i'm honestly sick of showcases. They're cool and all but showcases bring out so much ego, resentment, and jealousy. This show was a little different though. This time i made sure none of my people came out. why did i do this you ask? i did that because one i wanted to prepare myself for when it comes tiime to perform out of state and country. those familiar faces will not always be there so i wanted to prep myself. Another reason is because i wasnt trying to hear peoples lame ass excuses of why they can't make it. Granted it was last min bu still. After my last show i definitely stopped being so close with people. It may seem petty but it is what it is. Back to the show i had a good time. I performed "Countdown To The Last Hour", saw a lot of good talent and networked with people as well. I was glad i got a chance to network with the judges who were very cool and social able. I remember one person was a representative of  Thisis50.com which is big. Honestly i forgot who the other two were but they were very nice as well. After that i was getting ready to leave when i was stopped by these dudes. They stopped me to tell me that they liked my performance and the song. Turns out those dudes are from buffalo and have their own show. They were kind enough to feature me for a few seconds. All in all it was a fun and productive night.

Yet Another Networking Event

Realize im a little late here but late Sept i attended another business networking event that my constituent hosted. Got there later then anticipated but still had fun and mingled with some nice people. The event took place at the Katra Lounge which if you havent been is a really nice little spot. We were in the basement level which was smooth. Great atmosphere, had a few drinks all in all it was a nice productive night. here and in the next few posts you will see how your boy got down that night lol.

Nuyo Rican Cafe!

Whats going on my Rebels/Rebelettes a few nights ago i ripped the stage at The Nuyo Rican Cafe. Had a great time and really felt in the zone that night. I performed "Your Now Listenin To", "Hold On One More Day", and "Countdown To The Last Hour". If you haven't heard them you can check Rebel Thursdays and also the mixtape when it drops thanksgiving. I will be posting a video connected to this post in a few just give some time i have a lot to write about and record. Videos and pictures of that night will be up soon enough they are still being edited. In the mean time enjoy these upcoming videos dedicated to the GTA series as well as a few from the last networking event that i attended.

NO MORE MUST REBEL TV?

Greetings and salutations fellow rebels and rebelettes. This title might shock and alarm you but its only partially true. As you know "Must Rebel TV" is broken up into three sections. One sections is that my shows/performances will be shot live. The next section s is when i am out and about with my team just hanging out giving you the back stage pass to that. Lastly i would take you into the studio so you could see first hand me recording the songs you all know and love. This last and final section will be the section that will be removed next week.

Why do you ask? well, as you know i record a LOT of music in one session so as far as rebel thursday goes i am actually quite covered in the sense that i really dont have to make to many more songs to fill up the thursdays from now till the last week of march. Sounds crazy yes i know but its true. One other reason i will be shutting this portion down will be because i will be focusing on my album as well as upcoming mixtapes so i dont want anything to leak out (even if you are only just hearing my vocals).

In so doing this i can put more time and thought into the way i want my projects to come out (even though so far they are all on the right path). So there you have it 100th post is a dozy. The last episode i will try to make it Dec 1st so this way i can set up the songs properly for a true finally.

Photo Shoot with Microphonebully

whats going on my rebels and rebelettes. hope everyone has been well. a couple weeks ago i did a photo shoot with Microphone Bully. These picks were to update the website as well as submitting them to magazines, other websites etc. More importantky then that...one of the picks from this photo shoot was for the cover art of my mixtape. we met up in the city around 50th and 8th. fro, there we drove around looking for locations. the first location was this back street that had a lot of construction going on. you cant see the construction but you see me up against a fence and it looks very gritty and raw lol. the second location i believe was this wall with some crazy designs. (this actually may have been the first location i cant remember). these shots came out very good. one of them was very close to being on the cover. 

the third was in this parking lot. the lighting was ill, def good some shots in there. lastly we were up around the 70's and found this dead end sort of. we had the cars high beams on to get a better image and shot. it payed off because not only did we get good shots but one of them became the pose for the cover art. the whole thing took about an hour or so which is pretty damn decent. i will be uploading a few now.

Networking Event

Last week I attended my friend and colleagues networking event. Got there later then I expected but we made it there and had a great time. Met a few people that i am already in the process of doing business with nit to mention it was just an all around great evening. Had a few drinks, laughed, ate then went home and got straight to business. The venue we attended was the katra lounge in lower Manhattan. Nice little two level lounge, drinks were nice as well as the ambiance. The next one coming up is in November so I am trying to get ready for that. In the meantime I will ge closing these deals making music and...staying rebellious.

My First Autograph

Sorry I am getting back to you guys so late. Everyday its always something but whatever. Not to long ago I was chillin with a friend when of all of a sudden she pulls out the issue of hip hop weekly that i was featured in. Its been a while since I have taken a look at it, she then tells me to sign it. I was mad caught off guard and surprised. She handed me a marker and I thought long and hard about what I was going to write because I didn't want to mess up of course but also for another reason. This is my first autograph ever! If you never been asked for an autograph and someone actually asks you, its an overwhelming feeling. I signed it and felt like Im headed the right way and almost there. She said thank you but I told her thank you because her support and gesture was very thoughtful and endearing. Something like that i will never forget.

What's going on guys. Yes i know its been a while I have been busy getting everything together for this fall and winter. So far so good a lot of things are falling into place I will get into that when the time is right. But OK lets get into what this post is about.

Just had a meeting today and well it looks like the rebel will be performing at the Nuyo Rican cafe Sunday Nov 6th. I had the opportunity to perform sooner but I preferred it be later for a few reasons.

One reason was because I didn't want a mishap like the last event. Granted I enjoyed myself, and did my thing but the amount of promotion put into it was not good enough at all. I had about 2 and a half maybe 3 weeks tops to get the word out which is not at all enough time especially given the hours I work. All in all like 5 people came out for me smh. That was also due to the fact that since it was last minute everybody was either busy or not around. A couple of friends were even performing at another venue smh.

Another and the biggest reason that I want to wait is because if everything goes according to plan then the mixtape will be released by then so i will have physical copies to distribute. Great things take time and planning so with this venue I plan to correct the errors from the last event.

HURRICANE IRENE

Being from NYC is not always fun and games. For whatever reason we had an aftershock of an earthquake and a hurricane in the same damn week smh. This hurricane also happened to take place on the days I had to go to work. So you know bosses called me in smh. Actually though....its wasn't that bad. When i first got there I was mad tight later on though I made the best of it and had a good time. It was funny seeing people outside looking for food looking like zombies smh lol. My fam and everybody I know was safe so that's the important thing not to mention I got a few extra dollars out of the deal so all in all it was an interesting fun stressful tiring BS experience.

SHOW CANCELED!

What's going on my rebels and rebelettes blackout the rebel is here with a messed up update. You guys remember the last event I did at times square arts center right? Well while I was there my dudes "street fleet" were at another venue doing there thing. They came in first so big ups to them. Speaking to them I found out that they have a weekly event so today was the day that they were all going to perform. I honestly was not up to it because I have things to improve on as far as my stage performance is concerned. The reason I opted to perform was because my other dude Mr. Bostic was going there and I'm hearing that he's moving soon so this might be one of last times i get to perform with him. Kind of a goodbye thing I wanted to perform "get up to get it" one last time. Fast forward everyone is running around rushing to make it to the venue when all of a sudden we hear that the showcase is canceled. Needless to say the fleet and everyone else was pissed. This isn't the first time we have experienced bad business like this but its whatever I'm just glad I didn't promote this event smh.

RIP THE STAGE

ALMOST SHOW TIME!

What's up rebels and rebelettes. If you been following on Facebook and twitter then you know that I have a show today in the city. Times square arts center 669 8th Ave 42nd St NY NY 10036. I have been burnt out these last couple of weeks because so much has been going on but the more I rehearse the more pumped I get. I will be arriving there early to rehearse and do the sound check. This is my first official show this year so I am making sure I hit the stage with a vengeance! I'm actually packing up to get there now so i will see you guys when I get off stage with that trophy. My performance will be shot live via my ustream aka must rebel TV so even if you don't make it to the show you can still watch it live at home. That's all for now stay rebellious guys I'm out of here.

meetings meetings and more meetings

Yo I swear in these last couplenof days I have been to so many meetings smmfh. Its getting hard to remember them all but here goes...

One meeting was about retirement plans I.R.A's and stuff like that. Now if you have been following politics and the news then you know that retirement plans and all that good stuff is slowly being exterminated. The more money they pukk from these resources the more money the country will have....to be in debt smh. I'm not going to just let that happen so i set up a meeting to try to have the best plan possible to counter act what's going on. All in all I found a good package that I will be investing into later this year.

Another meeting I had was with this event planner who is throwing a showcase together later this September. I am reviewing the contract and weighing my options now. I will see what happens come the beginning of Sept.

Now this meeting had to do with this job for some legal stuff. Highly skeptical at first (and still am) I will still try to do business with them when the time is right

Last but not least I had a meeting discussing stock options. I am proud to say that i feel I have two geat investments that I believe will achieve a lot of interest and revenue in the long run.

Well there you have it that was pretty much my week for the most part. I am currently at work now so i have to get back to that. If there is time I will post something in the meantime stay rebellious everyone.

BUSINESS DEAL ALMOST DONE

Hey guys how have you been. Sorry I haven't been on here like that I have been so tied with ao much but I'm here now so let me try and update you. Right now It looks like I am in the final stages of this business endeavor/deal I have going on. Can't speak on what it is yet but just know if this goes according to plan then It will be a major move for me and will also help you guys stay up to date with me. This entire night almost I was working hard on completing certain actions to the deal. Its looks as though things will become a little more clear in the next two to four weeks. In the mean time I will be posting more and uploading more content.

Live wire tv

Greetings and salutations rebels and rebelettes. This past Sunday I had a interview with the good people of lge wire tv. Along with this interview I also performed. Truth be told this was the first performance I have done this whole year (due to politics, business endeavors etc). The interview went very well I had a great time. The questions were great and the energy/vibe was amazing. Came time to perform and I went crazy! Felt great being back performing in front of people. Once it was over I left feeling a high I haven't felt in so long. The high of being on stage is unmatched. I can't wait for my full return to the stage which might be next month so stay tuned. In the meantime I want yall to stay rebellious...this is blackout the rebel signing out.

EVEN BUSIER ASS DAY

whats going on my Rebels and Rebelettes. You thought that my previous post had a lot of stuff going on well check this post out smh. This past thursday it was all about work which is fine by me. Thursday morning i was up for my recording session. The reason why this session wasn't filmed was because this was more so a session of me doing some last minute changes to the songs for the mixtape. Right after that the guy who shoots videos and everything came in for our meeting. Everything went smooth as always. A lot of things were said and locked in for the near future. At least about 3 different projects i would say so be on the lookout. Right after that i had a meeting with one of my photographers. we spoke about the cover art for the mixtape and just about new projects coming up soon so once we both said what needed to be said things were great. As soon as that meeting was over me and the photographer headed out to 5ptz in long island city. We took a few shots for upcoming magazine submissions or whatever. i really think the ones i took on this chair came out pretty good. Finally after that was done it was time to head back home where i then had to go straight to the barber shop so i could get ready for the movies with the team. we saw the new x-men first class movie which in my opinion was the best x-men movie to date! they messed up with a lot of facts and events of the story line but from what they managed to salvage and what they decided to do with it was remarkable. Yea in a nutshell that was my whole entire day smh. I would DEFINITELY say this wraps up this post be sure to always check in here and see what i have going on. Good doing business

Yesterday I had a business meeting with an associate to discuss music and touring. A lot of great ideas were exchanged as far as the overall big picture and just some little things that can be added to improv on stuff. Can't get into full details as to what was discussed yet but believe me you will know when the times right. Until though....stay rebellious lol.

whats going on rebels and rebelettes. Last week i closed a deal with a editor,writer,promoter who gave me a lovely deal which included various promo and song placement. one part of the package included having one of my songs on www.tweetmysong.com some how some way @pinkcookiz (the editor i was just speaking about) got my song "Hold on one more day" to be #1 on the charts! the real crazy thing is that she did it in just 1 day. i cant tell you how but she did i couldn't believe my eyes. it felt great especially looking at all the listens and stats. The last time i checked it was listened to about 16,00+ times. It received a bronze medal...not gold but then again it was 16,00+ more listens then i had yesterday so i still feel pretty good. This is just the beginning and i am well ready for all of it.

BUSY ASS DAY

whats going on yall. yo when i say today was busy today was a doozy smh. as soon as i got up i worked out a little bit. from there i headed to hall of fame on the ave to shoot the final scene for the video "get up to get it". we got the shots we wanted and had a good time. shout out to the lovely ladies of that place bubbles, brooklyn and the newcomer trinity. if that wasn't enough work i went from the ave straight to the lab to record some new music. knocked out two songs and recorded my verse for microphonebully's own biz.

once that was over i helped my nephew with his raps as i said before. time to finally get my haircut which is something i needed in the worsest of ways lol. came home to handle a few things online. spoke to some great people...one of which happened to be MIKE JONES. that was a surprising and rewarding experience. couldn't stay and politic too long because i had to get ready to see my dude @SHO-PYN perform at the @overtimeconcert. in my opinion everyone held it down i was impressed! once it was all said and done i was on the first F back to queens to update the website and get ready for work tomorrow. so yea that was my day guys.

i feel as though that i should be sleep which i will be soon but business first. i never want to go a day without progressing both as an artist and as a person so today i think i just made it that much harder for tomorrows me which is good because i like challenges.

Little Brother

today was a busy ass day smh (i will get into that later) but i had to rush home today to help my oldest nephew with something. he has a performance to do for school so he picked a rap so he can be like his uncle smh. i always wanted my music and everything to have an impact on people but to visually see it before my eyes is amazing. he was so happy and thankful for me helping him with his music. he reminds me to much of myself at that age lol. i heard his rap...its cute. he has elements in it that are old school but he mixes it well with more modern stuff. needless to say i was impressed. i told him about his breathing, about messing up and keep going, making sure you remember your verse. i have time tuesday so i will finish up working with him. i know he's going to kill it though.

later that night i received a call from my big brother biz. we spoke about certain business and as always he gave me a few pointers which i am grateful to have been able to learn from him. i had to post this because today was representation of how music is supposed to be done. you have the eldest (my brother biz) teach me a few things about music i in turn that this information and help my little nephew as well as give him some tips that i knew already. one generation helping the next. if we had this concept theres no telling where hip hop could go.

Up all night

(Sigh) can't sleep and on top of that I have a headache smh. I have to say I had a good time. Nothing crazy just went out for ny dudes birthday. I would have recorded it but ny battery wasn't looking to right lol. Everyone had to part ways early because of work is something. My something happens to be studio tomorrow so you know what that means....must rebel tv!. New live episode but this time I have a LOT of recording to do. On top of that I also have to do the final mixing for the mixtape so tomorrow will be busy for me. All in all I'm excited and ready so I will speak and see you guys in a few hours good night.

Love my nephew

Wednesday night I received a call from my nephew..no lie it was the sweetest thing. He called just to say hi and how he missed me. He also called because his class was going on a field trip and he wanted me to come. It was last minute but I still pushed myself to make it. What really made me have to go was the fact that he said he doesn't see that much because I'm always busy and he wants to hang out with me. That touched me so much what choice did I really have but to go right. I'm glad I did because his face lit up when he saw me. He told all his friends I was arriving like I was some superstar already. The thing is is that even though I may be underground and well known to him i made it already lol. I guess this was the feeling I was longing for. To have someone to teach and guide and have them look up to me. I always wanted a little bro or SIS so him and his brother and SIS are as close to it as its gonna get. I always say that if something or someone is important to you you will make time for them with no problems. I love those little guys and I would do anything for them I just never really thought about how much I might mean to them. I'm not a perfect man nor do I claim to be one but I do try my best to be the best version of me possible and always striving to better myself not only for my sake but because I have little eyes constantly watching everything I do ....so I can't let them down. I won't let them down.

FULL FORCE

hey rebels and rebelettes its the rebellious one himself giving you guys an update on whats been been taking place as of late. For starters rebel thursdays and fan-a-day have been going real well. Thank you to all who have participated and supported. had a business call last thursday that was a little bit of a let down as well as very productive. Through it all some good did come out of it. Can't exactly say what it is but there will be BIG things poppin this year! when i said that the phone convo was some sort of a let down i was referring to a couple business deals and ventures. i was a little sad to say the least but good does come out of this. This now allows time to focus on my music and market/promote myself. I feel like i'm in second gear. There will be photo shoots as well as videos and a a lot of promotion. The way i see it sometimes you have to lose battles to win wars.yes some business deals fell through but i am now going even harder as an artist. All in all i am happy with the results.

WHAT IT BE LIKE MY REBELS AND REBELETTES. THESE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS HAVE BEEN FUN AND EXHAUSTING ALL AT ONCE. THURSDAY MY COUSIN SPLIT AND I WENT TO THREE DIFFERENT VENUES FOR PROMOTION AND NETWORKING. THE FIRST PLACE WE WENT TO WAS CALLED BOLLYWOOD IN WOODHAVEN QUEENS. PERSONALLY, I LIKE THE SPOT. THERE IS THIS LIGHT THAT COMES FROM THE FLOOR ON ONE SIDE AND IT HAS A NICE STAGE FOR PERFORMANCES (WINK WINK LOL). FROM THERE WE HEADED TO BLUE CRYSTAL WHICH WAS A DECENT SIZED VENUE. A FEW PEOPLE I KNEW FROM WAY BACK WAS THERE SO THAT WAS KIND OF NICE. DIDN'T STAY TO LONG BECAUSE THE PARTY WAS WACK AND ALSO WE HAD MORE BUSINESS TO HANDLE AT CLUB PETRA. NOW YOU KNOW NO NIGHT FOR ME WOULDN'T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT A LITTLE APPEARANCE AT PETRA LOL. ONE OF OUR OLD FRIENDS WAS THERE WHICH WAS REAL NICE TO SEE AS WELL AS A LOT OF NEW FACES. ITS FUNNY BECAUSE ME AND MY COUSIN TRIED TO HAVE ANOTHER MEETING WITH THE BOSS AND HE TAKES ME ON STAGE AND GIVES ME THE MIC AS SOON AS HE HEARS THAT I AM A RAPPER SMH LOL. I DIDN'T HAVE NON OF MY MATERIAL OR ANYTHING SO I WAS JUST CHILLING THERE LIKE UMMM OK WHERE DID THIS COME FROM LOL. IT WAS FUN THOUGH BECAUSE I STILL HUNG OUT ON STAGE AND NETWORKED WITH A FEW ARTIST' AND DJ'S. AFTER THAT WE HAD TO GO BACK TO BLUE CRYSTAL TO PICK UP SOMEONE SO WE CAN DROP THEM OFF. PRESSURE SET BACKS

almost 5 months until my project is ready to be delivered (and no im not referring to my mixtape although that plays a pivotal role in it). 5 months...and i feel so behind. so many steps i have to take, meetings that have to be set up, deals that have to be made the list goes on. some may say 5 months is a lot of time but in my opinion i dont think so. i think back when it was January first n i said to myself i want to have this and that locked in by march. here it is almost april and thats not the case at all. its not a lack of motivation or im lazy its simply time. the time i spend at work making the money to fund my endeavors kills my time making those same endeavors come true. sort of in a damned if i do damned if i dont situation here however i will not let this hinder me. 5 months to me just means i have 3 months to make it all happen (i HATE last minute running around). just recently it has come to my attention that some people i was planning on doing business with has just redirected their entire outlook. that means i now have to find a different group of people to pitch this idea to...which is not SO bad since i already have a group of individuals in mind. a nice meeting with my producer this thursday should help me sort things out a bit. in the meantime i will revamp my business proposal as well as take care of all necessary tasks until the due date. i haven't blogged in a while so i figured i would share this with you to let you know what i have been up to recently.

GEARING UP!

hey rebels n rebelettes u kno who it is n wat it is. today was a lil busy as u can already see. today was the 5th episode of must rebel tv. today i knocked out 3 songs so im satisfied wit that. 2 of the songs i did 2day for sure r goin on rebel thursdays so b on the look oout for them very soon. besides that im gearing up for FAN-A-DAY. wat fan a day is me introducing myself to complete strangers on twitter and tellin them bout my music website and all the features my site has. if they like the music and would like to become a fan then i will put them on their very own list where they can network n talk with one another as well having a more direct connection wit me n i with them. along wit that i will set up a video thanking the newcomer to the site and to my fan base. on another note im also gearin up to cum back to the stage and perform more. my goal is to perform at least twice as much as i did last year and hit 3x's as much venus as last year as well. we will c how that turns out so stay tuned until next time rebels n rebelettes this is blackout the rebel signin out...stay rebellious

Wat up rebels n rebelettes last night was sumthin else. After work I headed over to this hangout spot by my job cuz I heard it was sumones bday who works wit me. I didnt plan to stay long cuz one I had to chill wit my sis in a few hours n two I didnt think I would kno ne1 there. I got there n I practically knew everyone! So I decided to have sum drinks danced a lil n jus talkes n chilled. Sum random lap dance that this dude was tryna do to this gurl resulted in mad glasses breakin n tables being knocked over. One of my co workers had a lil more then she needed cuz she was all over the place a few other people were sloppy drunk n wildin as well smh. I cant wait to get back to work n c every1 blackmail each other lol. Afta that was all done we headed to the diner where we were wildin out ova there as well. Eventually we did all have to get home so we parted ways n I came home to sleep only for half hour cuz my sis was takin me out at the ass crack of dawn lol. Thats my night yall right now im at ihop ready to enjoy a much needed breakfast

anCor: What is your name and where are you from?

Blackout The Rebel: My name is BLACKOUT THE REBEL and I hail from south side Jamaica queens

anCor: Who has supported you along your journey with being a rap artist?

Blackout The Rebel: My family and close friends have been very supportive and encouraging of what I’m trying to accomplish I appreciate it and thank them heavily

anCor: Who introduced you into the Hip/Hop/Rap industry?

Blackout The Rebel: For the most part I introduced myself to the behind the scenes of this industry but I can say my big cousin and artist Shea Parka definitely taught me a lot. As far as coming into the game it all started when I was 9 and I had to do a performance at the end of this program called “enact” my friends and I decided to do a rap and it was history from there.

anCor: How do you feel the Rap/Hip-Hop scene has changed since the early 90’s?

Blackout The Rebel: The hip hop scene has changed in the sense that everything is a lot more commercial not to mention watered down. The intensity and realism has been replaced with heartless music just for the sake of making money

anCor: Why do you think it is hard to get a record deal now days?

Blackout The Rebel: It’s hard for numerous reasons. #1 EVERYONE these days seems to think they are an artist so it makes it that much more difficult to differentiate yourself from the herd. #2 with the drastic turn in the direction of hip/hop, labels and A&R’s are trying their best to find what’s hot right now. That hurts certain people’s chances because a lot of times they do not match the criteria of what they are looking for. Doesn’t mean they are not talented it just means they aren’t what seems profitable at the moment so they get pushed to the back.

anCor: Do you think now we have more one hit wonders than ever before?

Blackout The Rebel: Most definitely! With a rise in ringtone sales alone it makes it that much easier to become rich off of just one song so the hunger and heart dies very quickly. Also with the recession still in affect labels don’t have time nor money to continue to push an artist that they might feel wont make it so regardless of how nice you may think an artist is if the label or whoever is backing him doesn’t think its going to work you might never hear from him again.

anCor: Do you support local talent from your town?

Blackout The Rebel: I try my best to because I know I want that in return and also the underground circuit is a lot better then what is out here as far as mainstream goes…with the exception of a few select people. I would say look out for sho-pyn, T-kor, street fleet, hev star, d. stephens, just to name a few.

anCor: What are a few pros and cons to being an independent artist?

Blackout The Rebel: The pros, I would have to say is the freedom. Everything is pretty much your call and decision. Also you have more freedom in your music as well. You can pretty much say whatever you like without having to hear someone breathe down your neck about it. The cons are that it’s all up to you for the most part. So if you don’t have a strong work ethic to grind and take care of business then you yourself are the blame for your failure. Another thing is finances….a lot of times things will be coming straight out of your own pocket and that can get costly especially if you’re just starting out and have no income off your music yet.

anCor: Do you currently have your music digitally distributed?

Blackout The Rebel: I don’t have my music distributed just yet I’m still gearing and perfecting the mix tape and album that will be released next year. anCor: Are you currently working on any new material?

Blackout The Rebel: ALWAYS! Today I just finished my verse for this mix tape my cousin Shea Parka is in charge of, as usual I have some music on the microphone bully mix tape dropping this month, last but certainly not least I am currently finishing up the first few songs for the mix tape and the album at the same time.

anCor: Any words of wisdom?

Blackout The Rebel: Don’t let anyone or anything defer you from your dreams or passion. No matter what keep fighting even when it feels like you have nothing left and want to give up. Also don’t be afraid to be yourself not just in music but in general. We are who we are for a reason so embrace that, whoever doesn’t like it is their lost because we all have beauty deep inside us all….some just have more layers over it then others.

I would like to give a HUGE shout out to my fans, its because of all of you out there that I get up and strive to this everyday I have the best fans in the world and I vow to try my best to not let you down. greetings rebels n rebelettes. before i even begin to tell yall bout my day i have to share these 3 dreams i had wit yall. one thing u have to kno bout me is that i b havin sum random ass dreams for real. ok here we go....


DREAM1: it starts out im runnin in what it looks to be flushin queens. im along side most of my friends and cuzin. turns out we jus robbed this jewelry store n the cops r on to us. when i looked at the merchandise that we stole all i saw was sum bullshit cubic zirconia earrings. the same damn ones you could find on jamaiaca ave smmfh. neways i also remember my dude bj hauling an amazin amount of ass lol. you would have thought this nigga had warrants or sumthin lol. he tosses the rest of the stuff over to me and we seperate. at this point now im runnin through the town by myself dodging cars, hoppin fences the works...THE END! for wateva reason the dream ended right there...or so i thought.....


DREAM2: in a weird way me runnin around and doin all that stuff in the last dream greatly affected the outcome of this dream. apparently i was doin all this n it continued kind of while i was at work n on the clock. the head boss happened to have found me n immediately fired me. i remember in my dream i was explainin to him that i never even had a write up before so for me to be fired right here on the spot is wrong. he continued to give me a hard time so i already had it in my mind that i was goin to go to my other boss and ask him if i could jus be relocated to a different place. i woke up abruptly n was happy it was a dream n i still had a job lol. i think wat really triggered this dream was the fact that a coworker n i wewre discussin people being fired the other day and how they only aim to fire people who have been written up. its amazin wat your sub conscious can pick up smh.


DREAM3 the 3rd and final dream was jus plain wtf. i was walkin home (frum where i have no idea dont ask me) and sum shorty pulled up in a car n bagged me. i told her to drop me off close to my house n she started tryna kiss me or wateva. when sumthin is too good to b tru IT REALLY IS. since she was in a car i wasnt gonna bother to ask for her age but sumthin told me to jus do it neway because she looked young to begin with. i asked her n this gurl was fuckin 13 YEARS OLD! i was like um UUUPPPP im gone. opened the door n flew the fuck up outta there lol. (y is a 13 yr old drivin around queens pickin up guys idk its beyond me) but i do kno that when i finally got in the house there was poppa johns and domino's pizza waitin for me....and then i woke up smmfh 


there u have it folks. this is wat runs through my mind sumtimes when i sleep which is y i try 2 stay awake cuz at least then i kno im in control of my own thoughts.

Thursdays at petra!

It seems as though that this is begining to be a weekly routine...one of which that I have absolutely no problem with at all lol. My cuzin splitscreen had to handle some business with the owner so myself and two of our friends came along for support and just to hang out. Once we got in we got escorted to the vip (as usual and was "comped" with a free bottle of ciroc. They bought it to us wit a fire cracker stickin out the top it was crazy. Not to long after a few girls came by had a few drinks talked mingled networked and we left. Next week I believe they have sumthin there n once again u will catch me there as on time ready to do business as well as have a good time. From there we went to the manhattan proper to meet up with my cuzins co workers. Had more drinks there as well as sum laughs, n food n then went to rumba sky. It was ova by the time we got there but we still hung out outside wit juice n few others. Once that was ova we then went to onyx lounge (i kno mad shit in one night right) hung out there briefly n finally finally went home lol.

It was my first episode n I think it well. I Received a lot feedback that will b utilized greatly. For those of u who did not watch the show it was me inside the booth wit filly the class loser doin the engineering. I recorded four songs as well as had a very good convo bout distribution. CRAZY NIGHT pt.3

finally made it to play lounge and the shit is mad tiny on the outside we almost missed it smh. gettin inside though it was a decent size i guess. one thing i noticed off the back was that it was WAY to many high school kids there smh i felt like i was gonna b arrested by jus breathin in there lol. not even really 40 min in there sum dude gets rocked hard. i turned around n son was jus layed out on the floor smh lol it wasnt even right. so now mad dudes rush in tryna get it poppin smh one of them has a gun yada yada yada its always the same shit. it dont even phase me no more. one of the reasons i fell back frum clubs n partys n shit. but in a nut shell that was my night cuz as soon as that happened the spot was shut down n it was already like 3:30 n i had work in the mornin at 9 so0o0o yea i was gone lol. greetings rebels n rebelettes. last night was so productive and fun at the same time. if u been readin my previous post then u would kno that i went to this networking event for young entrepreneurs. i feel the event was a success met a few people, exchanged sum info, ideas, and opinions. not even an hour there and i was asked to rap for this guys blog. so in the spirit of the event i thought it was fittin for me to do this gangsta track i been workin on...... lmao na im jus fuckin wit ya lol. u kno me cum on now, i hit him wit "get up to get it". not for nuthin that gangsta stuff aint my style like that no offense to those who do it but thats not wat im tryna do especially in a settin like that. had a few drinks put a lot of my people on like my cuzin @splitscr33n who is a party coordinator not to mention a boss for his job at y.a.i. and my homegurl @lisha_ent who is a video director/editor. i would like to say shout outs to my dude dj instynctz he held it down as usual for the night on the 1's and 2's. the decor n feel of the night was good n it was jus the place to be. thats bout it for that part of the night because right afta that we had a meeting with the owner of petra lounge.....

THAT WAS SUM NIGHT pt. 2

ok so wat happened was that due to sum wild niggas outside  the event had 2 get shut down. needless to say my peoples as well as every1 else is pissed the hell off. not jus because people couldnt perform but also it costs money to get a slot up there. i was tryin to get a spot for that night (glad i didnt now but im sayin) everybody askin bout a refund n arguin wit managers n owners. my nigga malik said fuck all that got up on stage n started singin neway lol. i give him major props for that cuz thats real right there. afta that we by coat check tryna get outta here but the managers n owners still being assholes especially this tall 1. t-kor is havin a convo wit 1 owner n out of nowhere this 1 dude cums through like who r u to b talkin like that n all this otha kind of shit. so u kno my nigga tlost it lol. i didnt kno whether to pop off or go save him because at the end of the day this is a networkin music event so u have to b careful how people perceive u. once we got outside we walked all the way to 34th st for the lirr. between gettin there we pass this drunk guy n this gurl. we turn around to c that this dude was messin wit her. idk if she knew her or not but me malik n t ran up on him jus in case. t-kors mom made us chill cuz she made a point. if she didnt kno who he was she would have tried to scream or run or sumthin she jus sat there n took the punch like shes used to it. either way its wrong but we left it alone. finally after walkin almost aimlessly it seems through downtown n midtown manhatten we finally made it to penn station. said my goodbyes n i was off on the E train. smh didnt get home till like 4am n had work at 9am. needless to say im goin off fumes right now. thats all for now on this post. stay tuned cuz i have sum heavy good news cummin this is the rebel signin out 1

greetings n salutations rebels n rebelettes. yesterday was quite interestin didnt think it was gonna b though. 1st off i came in2 work when i wasnt supposed to so that pissed me off. lata on that night i knew that my dude  t-kor was performin so i had 2 make that happen. got there late thinkin i missed shit smh of course i didnt, they didnt even start yet smh. finally afta bout 2 hours n feeble attempts for a mic check they were to begin. the show started off alright there was 2 acts i liked the most n felt they were the best. this lil tiny short dude lol. mutha fucka was spittin, dancin, and singin all at once lol (not to mention hes also a producer). he had mad energy which was a plus cuz a couple people came up there soundin dead. the other act was this chick. she had a pop kinda style to her but she was good. she did this song that i think was called sky high or sum shit...that shit was dope! i was bout 2 ask her where to download that shit at but i couldnt really find her in the crowd nemore. sadly that was it cuz frum then on it was wack act after wack act like wtf who is tellin these niggas they can spit? my whole team (filly,j.e.m., courtney, t-kor,malik n a few gurls) were all bored stiff smh. this is wat really did it though... wat it is rebels n rebelettes sorry for the delay on the website. sum bullshit happened wit the site where u could customize it so i dont think the site will b up intil mayb the end of this if nething. now that that is taken care of lets bring u up to speed n let u kno wats goin on. well first off i had a business meeting yesterday with this venue. everything went very well we are keeping in touch. since i was in the city my assisstant took me to this ill ass chinese spot. tried fried duck n then had sum chicken lou mein (or however u spell it). afta that i watched my niece until moms came back n then i was off 2 the studio. recorded "fuck you" lol look idk if i should put it on a mixtape or leak it out now wat yall think? i will figure sumthin out but in the meantime imma keep writin songs nm typin up these proposals i aint tryna make this post too long so imma end here now but look for sum of the pics i took afta my meetin. so until next time yall this is the rebel signin out

wat it b like rebels and rebelettes man do i have sum updates for u. first of all the studio session yesterday was great! mr. bostic dropped his heat for this song me n him r doin (cant reveal wat that is as of yet). i layed down this track called "one more night". has a very upbeat optimistic spring time feel to it. i thought bout savin that 4 a mixtape but filly and bostic talked me in2 releasin it sooner then that so expect this song droppin around maybe late march or sumthin like that. as far as the video is concerned yes yes i kno the vid came out horizontal lol i will turn the camera around or wateva next time. in other news, i spoke to some reps for sum venues n they both went pretty well. in fact, i have a meetin with one of them this tuesday at noon. smh frum now till then i have to get my portfolio and everything ready. easier said then done seein as how my internet is down in my house for the next couple of days. i probably wont need much because honestly i may not want to do business with them right now for the fact that there was 2 much money involved as far as payments is concerned. today im workin both jobs but i will c how much business i can get done so with that said imma end this post now this is the rebel signin out 1

greetings rebels of course u kno who it is mr. Raps Last Hope himself and im goin to give u a recap on the other day. yesterday started off crazy rocky because i was late 4 my recordin session. idk how but i left my external hard drive and my written raps at home in my book bag so i had 2 get off the bus n cum all the way back home smh. afta being almost 2 whole hours late i finally got there n layed down everything i needed as well as went ova a few things. sum of which pertained to the last couple songs for the mixtape as well misc songs not 2 mention i got a lil crash course on how to make beats. of course i neva got a chance 2 make any cuz when i got home it was time 4 my youngest nephew (jourdan) ceremony. he got his orange belt in karate, im truly happy n proud of him lil man is a monster lol. afta that i treated my whole fam to popeyes. right afta that my homegurl mimi came threw soooo so much for tryna work beats right smh. friday through monday i work so i'll c if i can cram in sum time in between then. as far as business is concerned things are movin well. now that i have my new fone imma start hittin these venues up again so i should hopefully have sumthin solid by the end of this month God willin. that bout does it 4 yesterday as 4 2day i am tired as hell workin both jobs n sumhow imma still handle business and write new songs. get at me if u need 2 people im always around 24/7 for yall blackrebel73@gmail.com so until then this is the rebel signin out lata
